Well, today was an interesting day. Last night, we had a bit of a house party on Allen Street in Naseby. We were joined by the Australian men (who are Canadians), all the housemates, and a few of the Kiwis. After yesterdays' poor performance versus our Finnish housemates, we came back and played very well against the pair from Hungary with a 7-6 win. It seemed dicy in the fourth end when our opponents took 4 on us, but we attribute it to a moment of indecision about throwing a draw versus a hit.

The goal of most bonspiels is to be curling on Sunday morning. Whether you find yourself in the A, B or C events, making it past the dreaded elimination games on Saturday evening is, and should be a primary goal for a curling team at a bonspiel. We're in must-win games in the C event now. Tonight's game was against Grant Dezura, and we were out for blood after dropping our morning game to the Russel rink. Russel goes on to play Brady Clark's team in the A semi-final tomorrow at noon.

Another weekend, another bonspiel. This week, I find myself in Maple Ridge, British Columbia -- home to the Golden Ears Winter Club. This is one curling club that I thoroughly enjoy visiting and curling at. It's one of those clubs with a great tradition of history, evident with the championship banners hanging from above the near houses. Names on these banners, like Kirsten Fox, Ed Dezura, Cal Fister, Bryan Kedziora, and those aren't even the really nice ones with four hearts on them.
